Damp track so very little running until the last 15 minutes when it warmed up and the track started to dry. The later you went out the faster you went.  Both Renaults had mechanical problems.

RACE:

·      Mercedes didn’t win so much as Ferrari lost. Once again the Italian team threw away a good result with poor strategy. Mercedes were expected to be on the back foot all weekend, but kept their collective heads down, plodded on and achieved a well-earned victory.

·      Norris suffered a botched pitstop when a wheel-nut cross-threaded. (And there was me thinking the wheel-nut were in integral component of the wheel and couldn’t be cross-threaded!!) Anyway, he left his pit, lost a minute or more getting pushed back and they eventually brought him in to be retired to save wear and tear on the parts.

·      Raikkonen had damage to the floor and other parts of the car after contact early in the race.

·      The Haas’s weaknesses in aerodynamics and tyre usage were highlighted at the high altitude (2250 metres).
