FP1:

As usual, first practice session times are not very representative, especially here in Bahrain when qualifying and the race will be held at dusk when the track is very much cooler.

FP2:

·      A much more representative session as it was now after dark and the track was many degrees cooler, as it will be in qualifying and the race.

·      Are Mercedes sand-bagging?

·      Both Alfa’s suffered water leaks and were out for most of the session.

·      Ricciardo is, apparently, struggling to set up his car.

FP3:

The second half of this session was much more productive as the temperatures fell when the sun went lower. Are Mercedes messing about or are they really in trouble? Ricciardo is in trouble as he fails to get to grips with his car. Racing Point are wondering where their Oz pace went, and McLaren are probably wondering where theirs came from!!!

Incident early in the session when Norris came up behind Grosjean who was dawdling on the racing line and had to brake hard to avoid a collision.

Grosjean awarded a three-place grid penalty fro impeding Norris in Q1 (although Norris stated that he thought Grosjean was forced to slow down because Vettel was going too slowly ahead of him: but Vettel got away with it – well, he is driving a Ferrari…!!!)

Race:

Leclerc led for most of the race until his energy recovery system from the turbo failed and he lost about 160hp. If it hadn’t been from a rather questionable safety car when the two Renaults pulled off the circuit he’d wouldn’t have finished 3rd – but then, he is driving a Ferrari…!!
