FP1:

Sergey Sirotki, the Russian F2 and Renault test driver, drove Hulkenbergís car, and Alfonso Celis, the Mexican Formula V8 3.5 and Force India test driver drove Perezís car.

Looking at the Renault driversí performances with Palmer that much quicker than Sirotkin, I am inclined to think just how good Hulkenberg is!!

FP2:

As usual, Friday times give little or nothing away with most teams and drivers. However, I noticed both Ferrari drivers covered more laps than anyone else, 20 more than the Mercedes pair. At the other end of the scale Palme was hit with more engine woes and only clocked 7 laps in total. One or two others had problems, like Ricciardo with a turbo snag and Kvyat with a brake fire, but otherwise it was pretty standard.

Nothing overly untoward in this session, except maybe Hamiltonís front right brake failure at the end.If itís just a dodgy disc it should have no further effect on his progress this weekend.

RACE:

An interesting rather than an exciting race. The track temperatures were higher than anticipated and it played havoc with the teamsí tyre strategies, mainly because the softer tyres couldnít go very far without blistering.

Verstappen once again upsetting all the people on the FGP who are expecting value for money from the Dutchman. He had a clutch problem and was slow off the grid, and then got punted off by Alonso when Kvyat steamed into the first corner at far too high a speed, for which he would serve a drive-through penalty for causing the collision. Alonso and Verstappen limped around to their pits, Alonso retiring with lots of damage, and Verstappen with the broken clutch – so he wasnít going to go far anyway!

Magnussen had a hydraulic pressure problem that effectively shut his carís systems down, and it looked like Sainz had the same sort of problem.

The end of the race was OK as Vettel closed on Bottas and Hamilton closed on Ricciardo, but ended a lap or two too early for both of them!!
